Anxiety affects millions of people every year; anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorder in the United States. Often anxiety disorders are persistent throughout the lifespan.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary as:

“ an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physical signs (such as tension, sweating, and increased pulse rate), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt about one’s capacity to cope with it.”

There are various types of anxiety disorders, each with different presenting symptoms. For example, individuals may experience a more generalized type of anxiety, as seen in individuals with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Others may experience social anxiety, which is common in those diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder.

One certain thing is that managing anxiety symptoms can be challenging. Anxiety is very overwhelming and draining for people who experience it. It can be difficult to find relief.
